Within the framework of the 1st stage of the project, practical activities have been started in laboratory conditions, where we have carried out evaluation of natural preservatives and their mutual combinations, assessed their stability, as well as their effects on the skin protective barrier.

When selecting preservatives and their combinations, preservatives obtained during the fermentation process were evaluated, and their various properties and pH values comply with our requirements, taking into account the required compliance with the pH of the facial skin also in the skincare product bases – oils, creams, gels and cleansing products.

The summarisation of both theoretic information and practical information obtained from the activities already performed in the laboratory conditions has been started in order to develop formulations for the required skincare and cleansing product bases, using new and already verified biotechnologies.

The project is implemented under the measure 1.2.1.1 “Support for the development of new products and technologies within the competency centres” of the specific support objective 1.2.1 “Increase of the private sector investment in R&D” of the Operational Program “Growth and Employment”.

Within the framework of the 1st activity of the project, the theoretical evaluation of the latest generation preservatives of natural origin and their mutual combinations has been started. The irritant effect of preservatives and their combinations on the skin protective barrier is estimated to be minimal due to their suitability to balance the skin microbiota and strengthen its natural barrier protective function.

When choosing combinations of preservatives, their application in different bases of facial skincare products – oils, creams, gels and cleansers – is evaluated, taking into account the pH of the products, the polarity of the substances and their hydrophilic or lipophilic dispersion properties.

The summarisation of information on the purchase of the necessary substances for the development of base creams and cleansing products has been started in order to verify the theoretical assumptions in laboratory development tests.

The project is implemented under the measure 1.2.1.1 “Support for the development of new products and technologies within the competency centres” of the specific support objective 1.2.1 “Increase of the private sector investment in R&D” of the Operational Program “Growth and Employment”.

Currently, the research project “Development of high-quality cosmetic products of natural origin for dermatitis affected skin using innovative preservation systems” is being implemented.

Within the framework of the research project “Development of high-quality cosmetic products of natural origin for dermatitis-affected skin using innovative preservation systems” it is planned to develop a skin cleansing and moisturising product system consisting of at least two natural products: nourishing daily cream; oil and/or micellar water. The preservation system of products to be developed as a result of a research project will not include chemical ingredients that may be irritating to the skin, including naturally occurring benzyl alcohol, sodium benzoate, potassium sorbate, benzoic acid, salicylic acid, dehydroacetic acid, ethyl alcohol, pentylene glycol (1,5-pentanediol), propylene glycol (1,2 – propanediol), etc.
